I agree with this.  An SLR is NOT a stereo camera, no matter what you
do with it.  However, I think the case of a twin rig falls into a gray
area.  Basically, it's a stereo camera whose components are themselves
mono cameras.  Just a the David White Co. and other camera makers
assembled their cameras from parts, many of which were made by others,
so a twin camera rig is assembled from parts bought elsewhere.  The
fact that those parts are usable in and of themselves does not change
the fact that a twin rig is an assembled stereo camera.
