David Stuckey again:
Thank you for that info. I thought there was more to it than just getting
the sequence right on the film for freeviewing.
The reason for the question was a recent discussion I had with Allan
Griffin about shooting through the window of an aircraft with the wing &
engine as foreground. If you were using a single lens camera (does anyone
on this list own a one eyed monster?) there would be no easy way of getting
any 3-D in the foreground. However, if you used a nice solid stereo camera
(like a Realist) you would get good depth in the foreground but virtually
none in the background due to its distance.
If you were to use a twin rig where you had the ability to introduce some
delay between the firing of the two shutters, then you would be able to get
good 3-D of the foreground AND the background. Hence the question, which
camera to fire first depending on which side of the aircraft you were
looking out? Because the subject is moving from right to left OR left to
right.
Of course if you were using a Realist and the plane banked suddenly, you
could accidentially hit your self in the head with it...I wonder if anyone
has ever used one as a weapon??? (I feel a headache coming on!)
Whilst we're in the air, I usually put my film in the hold luggage. I
don't think this is x-rayed, just some slobbering dog sniffing around for
dope! It stays colder too!
