This probably is a good reason for one to view one's slides frequently!  If
one doesn't look at them for an extended period, the fading may be more
evident.  And to view them w/o a projector. 

Even the fading of  non-Kodachrome viewmaster reels which are now noticeably faded
probably weren't fading noticeably on a week to week basis.
