Hi there, I am new to this discussion, but I have been following it for a=
few days with some amusement. I find the airport X-ray discussion=
fascinating and thought I would add some thoughts to it.
When I was in grade seven, I entered my school's science fair with a=
project on radiation. I made a home-made radiation detector (it was in one=
of those "Amateur scientist" sections of Scientific American) from a tin=
can, some tin foil and dehydrated drywall. To my surprise the item in my=
house which had the highest levels of radiation emitting from it was my=
parents toaster. It was old and was a wedding present, G.E., I think. =
Upon my recollection, I think it had a glow in the dark dial. All of this=
proves two things, One: irradiated food is actually safe (I am living=
proof), and Two: your film is NEVER safe. I personally stuff my film (ASA=
100) in my lead codpiece wherever I go :-).
Colin Moyer.
