My sisters and I have a few black and white prints taken when my parents
were in Greece many years ago. Some are a bit faded, but some are
perfect. We treasure them. One is of my mother, probably 18 or so,
looking charmingly peeved at having to sit still for a photo. We
have one of each of our two daughters with an almost identical
expression.
When our children were young, which was somewhat before Dr. T was young,
my wife and I took mostly slides, but I took an occasional roll of
black-and-white (say one in five). These I know will still be around
to amuse my chidren's grandchildren.
Three of my grandparents died before I was born, and no pictures of
them exist. I did have the pleasure of meeting my maternal
grandmother, even though I was born in the US and she under the
Turkish Empire. It is good that photos of her exist to refresh my
very childish memory.
