3-D in Las Vegas:

Just got back from our yearly trip to Lost Wages (a.k.a. Las Vegas)
Nevada and I thought I would offer this short review on things 3-D in
Sin City.
First and most exciting for me was IMAX 3-D at the Luxor. They are
currently playing "L5: First City in Space". You can check out the
review in Stereo World, Nov/Dec 1996 that was recently mailed out.
It's playing at the Luxor every other hour. On the alternating hour,
they are playing a standard IMAX short film that I think was called
"Special Effects". A ticket to the 3-D show was $8.50. I wonder
how this price compares to other IMAX theaters showing the movie?
It was definately worth the price for me, but I have to say that 45
minutes is about as long as I'd want to wear the liquid crystal
shutter glasses. They start to get heavy after a while.
The Hard Rock casino was advertising "3-D Slot Machines". They had
the advertisement in all the tourist magazines, but I was not able to
tell from the advertisement what they really were. We didn't get down
to the Hard Rock so I can't give you a first person review on the slot
machines. I'm pretty sure of one thing...these 3-D machines take
away your money just like the plain old 2-D machines. :-)
Off topic comment....If you get a chance to see the "Mystere" show
playing at Treasure Island Casino, do so. It's a very spectacular
"European style" circus show. I even noticed that if you keep both
eyes open, you can see the show in 3-D!
