This sure helps clear up one question I had! I could not remember at
all whether I had ever used flash bulbs when I first took 35mm photos
with my father's Voigtlander.. back in grade school or so. I remember
using flash cubes on an Instamatic, and I have vivid memories of my
grandfather taking flash bulb pics ("Watcht the birdie!!") of us kids
when I was about 5 years old, but if I had actually used flash bulbs
myself I probably would have remembered the smoke and burning. I guess
I was expecting the flash bulb firing to be similar to flash cubes.
Thanks for the info, all.
