Elliott, I do not know if it clear to you that there are different kinds of
"heat output". If you remember the reports on my experiments on using 500W
and 750W bulbs in the TDC 116, what causes the damage on the film is
radiation. This has nothing to do with how hot the area around the bulbs
feel or how well the fan is working, etc.
The main component that prevents heat damage of the film is the heat
absorbing filters. If you remove the HAF from the 116, your (underexposed)
film will not last for long and the RBT mount (black side) will melt fast.
What does the VM Stereomatic projector offer to cut the IR radiation?
