Don't worry about problems until you are sure you got one.
The tech-3d insane asylum will try to publish a summary of the inpouring
of information and possibly a second summary of testing reccomendations.

Sliding cameras have a different set of problems, but more importantly
they have limitaions on the types of stereo photography they do.
Never let tech hype scare you. What is most important is that you end
up with a camera that does what you want it to do!
It sounds like you have lots of parts for any solution :-)
And you have a significant probability that your lens may match!
