Twinning the lite-touch

I ordered the two Nikons from Focus Camera (the other places that had it
advertised for $89 were all out, so I spent $5 more at Focus). I still
haven't received the cameras yet, but that is fine since I still need to
gather together the proper tools (soldering iron, magnifying glasses,
etc..). I was wondering about the flash capacitor though. I will test both
cameras before I begin working on them, so I will need to put a battery in
them, but I was wondering about how long it takes for the charge to
disipate? Also, are there any particular places within the camera to avoid
just in case it hasn't dropped its charge? (I have a strong desire to
avoid getting zapped!) By the way, I never really checked, but what size
bolt fits the tripod mount of a standard camera anyway? Finally, do you
use regular 35mm slide mounts or do you crop the slides in a some special
manner? I still haven't found either a slide viewer for 35mm slide pairs
that is lit internally, or a print viewer (other than the view magic which
I just bought).
One more thing, I ended up buying the same Lite-touch as was originally
used in the plans. I really like the restyling of the twin-camera setup.
It seems that the internal contacts leave more room for other
experimentation such as extra mounts with a wider stereo base, vertical
mounts, an extra-long cable plug-in setup, or just for the option of using
the cameras individually.
Any other tips, hints, suggestions or ideas would be most welcome!
Great idea and great plans Ed!
Thanks again,
Chuck Miller
