I've found the maximum to be around 100 images with a time of around 18
minutes. A stereo slide really needs around 10 seconds on the screen so
that the viewers have time to fully explore the 3rd dimension in addition
to all the other aspects associated with 2-D shots. 8 Seconds if the slide
is not so good (should it be there at all?) and 12 seconds maximum for an
excellent, high impact slide. These times are for a full overlap dissolve
audio visual with synchronised sound track. If you are manually changing
your slides, you may consider reducing the number of slides to keep within
the time.
I regularly lecture and present 3-D Audio Visuals comprising 3 segments; 2
a/vs and 1 manual lecture segment where the slides are spoken too and
questions invited. I have breaks between each of the segments and the
total presentation usually finishes in around one and a half hours
including breaks. Total number of slides projected including titles around
280.
