Prepairing for SLide show NSA '97

I noticed tonight at my local stereo slide competition, much to my chagrin,
that my images all looked to dark, and just not as good, as they did in my
halogen Red-Button.  I do have one of the Famous Dr.T rheostats(sp?) that
allows me to adjust the brightness while viewing, but I of course usually
leave cranked up all the way.  Is there a way to simulate the change in
brightness that a projector has?  I would like to get a better idea of what
the slides will look like when projected, for the NSA show.
