Jess Powell and stereo cameras

I'm pretty sure that Jess's *favorite* stereo cameras are the Wollensak
and the Verascope. But the Kodak gained a lot of stature in his eyes after
he saw the results of the fix described in Dalia's magazine. Jess
described it to me, and I experimented. The technique requires building a
different type of focus setting device than I normally use. The issue is
out of print, but Dalia is going to send me a photocopy (of course, one of
the key Kodak articles gets published when my subscription had lapsed...)
:(
A few of the past posts addressed people taking photos vs just dinking
with cameras and talking the talk. So FYI, I actually do take photos. I
have no interest in PSA-- it's competitions are far too complex for me,
sort of like keeping score at a cricket match, and with more stars,
diamonds, etc than a box of Lucky Charms. :) In fact, one of the reasons I
created Expo1 was as an alternative to PSA type stuff. But I'm tied for
3rd or 4th overall in the cumulative Cordova Camera Club competitions. I
also shot the Best of Show stereo slide at the 1995 Atlanta combined
NSA/ISU Salon D competition. And to celebrate the holidays in 1996 I did a
great tabletop of Pee Wee's Playhouse playset all gussied up with
Christmas decorations, even tiny grain of wheat lights rigged on the tiny
Christmas tree, and featuring the entire cast of action figures, including
Miss Yvonne, Globie, The Singing Flowers, the Mail Lady, Cowboy Curtis,
Pteri, Floory, Jambi ("Mekka Lekka Heinie Hi, Mekka Heinie Ho!"), the King
of Cartoons, the Refrigerator People, and of course Pee Wee Herman aka
Paul Reubens crashed back in his big talking, groping overstuffed
armchair! Just ask Jon Golden if you don't believe me-- I hear he's been
showing a copy I sent him at camera clubs throughout the world. >:)
