Although I haven't researched any special new software, the usual graphic
software packages (such as Photoshop) can be used quite successfully. I did
a number of 2D - 3D conversions for ABC a while back soley in Photoshop
(http://www.tumble.com/c02.htm) and thought they came out pretty well. "The
Revenge of the Creature" poster (http://www.tumble.com/c02i.htm) was done
in Adobe Illustrator as a stereo pair and then brought into Photoshop to
create an anaglyph.
I believe there were some postings regarding ABC's week of 3-D anaglyphic
broadcasting in May. I'm currently working on both a CD-ROM and web site to
promote this. I'm happy to say that ABC actually took some stereo
photographs this time, so I'm using those along with some 2-D to 3-D
conversions to complete this project.
I also saw some test footage of the 3-D camera ABC is using and it worked
very well ! I have not seen any of the actual programs.
One thing that should be mentioned is that the glasses ABC is passing out
(through a promotion with Wendy's) have the lenses flipped. Standard 3D
glasses use red as the left lens, but these have the red lens on the right.
Just a tip so you can either get the ABC glasses or make your own flipped
version.
