The workhorse of flashes is the Vivitar 283, available new from NY mail
order for about $65, I think.  Sunpak has a similar model (383).  All you
need is a flash with manual and a few automatic settings.  Many flashes
today are dedicated for specific camera systems.  You do not need this
feature.  Flash is a necessary tool in stereo photography IMO!
