Professor George (simple sig) Themelis instructs:

OK you dragged it out of me. I've been suppressing this question pending
discovery of all my manuals for my SLR equipment, which were misplaced
during a rushed camera bag upgrade.

Suppose what you already have is a flash dedicated for a specific camera
system, and the users' guide has warnings to the effect that if you use
the flash on any other camera, you will trigger the apocalypse, be zapped
with 4 jillion volts, ignite a thermonuclear explosion in your equipment,
and generally expericence various and sundry other undesirable after
effects. OK, maybe the warning wasn't quite that strong...that's why I
was trying to find the guide before posting. But my recollection was that
the flash and/or camera could/would be damaged/ruined if not used on the
system it was designed for.

I realize the fully automatic features will be lost, but the question is:
is it safe to use a modern, computerized, system-specific flash unit on a
50s stereo camera like the Realist? The specific flash in question is a
Nikon SB24, if that matters.

Thanks,
Paul Talbot
