I cut the entire roll too, and lay the chips on a piece of white paper, the
last one (to be cut) at the top of the first one.  I use Albion mounts and
follow the same routine of putting the first chip that I grab in the left
pocket (or is it right? :)... you see, I don't even know what I am doing...
I am not thinking about it.  I have established a routine and it works!!!) 

You will not make any mistakes if you follow the same routine always.  It
is like sex... If you start thinking about it while doing it, things can go
wrong... :)))))
