What film to use for Kodak Stereo Camera?

Dumb question time.

I just bought a Kodak Stereo Camera.  Never had one before.  Read the 
manual, still have a couple questions.

1.  What ASA film will match with the exposure setting suggestions on the 
camera?

2.  There's a dial on the top right with choices, Kodachrome Daylight and 
Type A film.  Was this just to remind you what film you had in the 
camera, or does it actually change anything?
