Then why do people take "static" prints in such huge quantities?

I don't think anyone needs to cut down on their enthusiasm when trying to
involve others in 3d.

While I do not doubt that still projection will never become a big
entertainment boon, I have to say that a well-produced stereo slide 
projection is 1000 times more exciting than the latest "Jim Carrey flick".

For me, a static stereo image has more information and appeal than
hundreds of prints and hours of video footage.  The majority of users of
still cameras today are anaware of the existence of stereo.  IMO, there is 
a good market for do-it-yourself stereo photography IF implemented & 
marketed properly.
