What I take away from this is that for $180 (and often for less), I can
get an excellent camera with sharp, coated lenses and an excellent
viewer (if you get a Handi-Viewer with achromats!!) which I can slip a
halogen bulb into and away I go starting to shoot high resolution
stereo.

That's less than a decent new P&S cameras costs... less than 2 days'
wages for most people (compared with 2 weeks wages when new in the
50's)... an amazing bargain!
