Yea it's always cool when you can make 3D pics with inexpensive digital
cameras. BTW if you go to the QuickCam website you'll see someone who
did just that and got a job with them! This was reported by Jan Gjessing
about a month ago. There was another person that has also done this and
had (still has?) a web site doing specifically this. I have tried out
the quickcam and yes I was very pleased with the results as you were.
I have also had much success with the Snappy and a regular videocam.
One of numerous that I have done, you can see

Well guess what? It might be possible with the QuickCam! Of course
it will be black and white. If you get the color version then your almost
set. The only problem is that there is no focussing on it, but a way to
get around that is to put a lenses of some sort (50mm lenses works well)
between the slide and QuickCam. Personally haven't tried it out with
the Quickcam but have done it with the Snappy that I refer about above.
Not only can you "scan" in Realist slides in this way but also of course
35mm full frame and even VM reels! It's a bit tricky to get set up right
(trial and error) but the quality is acceptable for web use or for
cataloging slides. Here is an example of a View-Master reel that I
duped in this way. It is presented as a stereo cross-eyed pair. Check
it out at http://generation.net/~jacob/tintin.jpg
