I've had a few people getting on my case for bastardizing Guiterman's
poem, so here's the original, followed by a worse bastardization.  ):)

On the Vanity of Earthly Greatness

The tusks that clashed in mighty brawls
Of mastodons, are billiard balls.
 
The sword of Charlemagne the Just
Is ferric oxide, known as rust.
 
The grizzly bear whose potent hug
Was feared by all, is now a rug.
 
Great Caesar's bust is on the shelf,
And I don't feel so well myself.

Cards that once were thought so nice
Are mostly the exhaust of mice.

The little wheels that took their place
Now spin at quite a slower pace.

Films once commanding B.O. gross?
Just rotting nitrocellulose.

My Realist is acting queer
I think I'll go and have a beer.
