Roger:
The standard 1-5/8" x 4" I referred to is also called the Realist format.
This was the format popularized in the '50s and for which you can still find
many materials for today. It is merely a mask for holding two slide
transparencies side by side. It comes in several variations: 5 perf, 7p, 8p
and maybe 4p. I can't remember. 8p, of course, is full frame 35 mm. You can
buy them in either cardboard or plastic. I like the plastic (made by RBT)
for projecting. And yes, I project full frame 35mm using these mounts using
the TDC 116. For your information, I not long ago paid $300 for a TDC 116
in near perfect condition. It wasn't a "collectors" item because the wooden
carrying case was kind of beat up. But projector itself was perfect. I found
it by searching the News Net (or sometimes called UseNet) using the DejaNews
search engine.
Since you are an AOLer I can't give you any advice on how to access the
UseNet (or News Net) but I know you can. Its buried in your browser
somewhere. It is not the same as the Web but your browser might make it seem
so. Consult with an experienced AOLer.
That said, I will recommend a couple of sources. I don't have that
information at my home computer but at my office. Meanwhile, I strongly
suggest that you browse to:
http://www.tisco.com:80/3d-web/
You will find much of the information that you need there.
Also, don't be afraid of announcing that you are a "newbie" to this list.
These folks are very kind and gentle and will offer more help and
suggestions than you can stand. There are over 800 stereographers here, most
with less experience than you apparently have, and quite a few with much
more. Since you have had experience with twin projector projection, I think
you will find that you have a definite place and will be able to lend your
expertise to the rest of the group. And, oh yes, we are all very civil and
polite (most of the time, at least).
I suggest that you send us all a brief introduction to your 3d self,
detailing your exerience and then what questions you have for us. I can
almost guarantee that you will be satisfied with the response.
At any rate, welcome to the list
