I remember looking at the Nimslo displays in camera stores when it
first came out, and wondering "What happens if they discontinue the
product and stop processing the film?"  I think this problem is
inherent with any product that requires on-going service, and is a
kind of self-defeating mechanism.  The music/film industries could
have introduced several enhancements to the CD format by now (it's
been about 15 years, after all), but they're being very cautious not
to cause techno-phobia, in which consumers will stay away for fear of
obsolescence.
