Projecting 2x2 pairs with a TDC 116

I and Roger (Trecate@xxxxxxx), who is new to this list, have been carrying
on an off list discussion on whether or not one could project 2x2 pairs
using a TDC 116. Roger is an experienced stereographer who has been
projecting 2x2 pairs using Carousel projectors for years. He wondered if the
TDC 116 would work.

Last night I mounted a couple of full frame stereo pairs in Wess 2x2 mounts
and tried it. Using the rear channel of the slide carrier it does work but
you have to put a 1/2" spacer between the slides (I just used a match
stick). Its kind of a clumsy arangement. I suppose one could rig a jig to
hold the slides at the proper spacing as you fed them into the carrier.

I think I would remount the slides in Realist format mounts.

The question is, are all TDC 116 carriers the same? What about the TDC 716
carriers?

Has anyone else experimented with this?
