Hi all,

A couple of months ago I sent a message across this board describing the
problems I was having with my advance mechanism (locking up). I did get a
couple of responses thet were helpful and thank you. Well I held off
responding until my brother who is knowledgeable in stereo cameras, other
then the Realist, to get a good look at it.

As it turns out all I need is a replacement advance knob. I had described
earlier that one of the gear teeth had been broken off the brass gear in the
knob (obviously the camera was dropped at some time seeing there's a nasty
dent in the in the top of the knob corresponding) but this was not the
location that it was locking up.

As it happens under closer examination of the gear tooth opposite the broken
one has a groove or notch worn in it. Here is where the advance keeps
getting lodged.

Anyhow that is know my quest to find a replacement knob. My brother suggested
an alternative solution of just breaking off the offending notched tooth
also. The camera would advance again but take more turns and be jerkie. He
advises that this might not be good for the advance mechanism which would
desire smooth motion. I wonder because as far as I can the one tooth was
broken for as long as I've used it had no difficulties.

Steve.
