At $800, yes! Even free, Pulfrich is only a scientific curiosity for
me.
There is binocular disparity but has nothing to do with the spatial
arrangement of the objects. So, what good is it? Used commercially
gives
bad name to 3d. Pulfrich is something that stereo photography
enthusiasts
should be aware of its existence, but having seen REAL 3d (you know,
Realist, etc.) nobody can be really excited about it. -- George

However, a well made pulfricht VHS tape can yield very nice stereo
pairs when correctly separated images are captures via computer/image
capture device. So, it can be true 3D if you stretch it a bit. ;) In
fact, any video that has a camera moving from left to right or vice
versa, can produce excellent 3D images.
At the moment I am working on a series of 3D images (pairs, anaglyphs,
and hopefully JPS LCD) of the Titanic, at the bottom of the ocean.
Several kind submarine operators have gone to the trouble to
inadvertently record perfect stereo scenes over the years, and I am
working to release them from the tape they are stuck on! =) Look for
the results in the near future on my new "3D Images" gallery. (Coming
to my Web site soon...)
