Chopping up 3Discover?

I know it sounds bad, but has anyone thought of chopping up
a 3Discover cassette to mount the chips in single mounts
(RBT full frame, 7p or 2x2)?  At $6 a piece, I am tempted.
Why?  Use a better viewer?  Use in projection?
