Larry and Jan,
I downloaded one of the AIS MPEG1 movies (the 4.5MB clip called "Persian
Dance"). Astonishingly, it DOES work with alternate field in interlaced
mode with LCS glasses. I am using a Pentium Pro 200 MHz PC with 80 MB
EDO RAM, 256K L2 (Pipeline Burst) Cache RAM, and an ATI 3D PRO TURBO
PC2TV Video Card with 4MB.
I used the ATI Movie Player that came with the board, while in 1024 X
768 res with 24-bit color depth and a refresh rate set at 43 HZ
interlaced (in ATI's terminology, that means 43 FRAMES/second refresh,
which equates to 86 fields per second, or 43 field refreshes per second
for each eye when viewed through LCS glasses). I used SimulEyes glasses
with the Sgtoggle program set at stereo disable, whitecode enable, and
enable pseudo. I set the player image size to "1:1", which is VERY
important (this synchronizes the small movie image's interlace with the
overall screen display interlace. If you allow the movie image to be
enlarged or reduced, the movie's interlacing doesn't match that of the
screen, and the stereo effect gets clobbered.)
I dunno how they retain field synch in MPEG1, but it works!
I may try the MPEG2 files, but I'm not sure whether the ATI player will
handle it -- I'll let you know when I get a chance to try it.
Cordially,
