Up at 4:45 am!
Hi! Still up at 4:45 am, which is kinda late even for me! I am selecting
and mounting slides for our Cleveland Club first meeting this coming
Tuesday.
In the process, I discovered the pleasure of using RBT mounts. These
mounts are the "fast food" of the stereo projection. There are much faster
to put together (compared to glass slides) and much faster to take out if
so desired. They allow for accurate mounting and work well in stereo
projection.
The big difference between the glassed aluminum mounts and RBT mounts is
that once you mounted a slide in glass, you are committed. That's it. It
is there to stay for the rest of your life. RBT is the exact opposite
since it is faster to mount and can be taken apart without any problem.
In the future I will continue to use glass aluminum mounts for my best
slides, especially unique unreplaceable slides that will be circulated or
entered in many competitions and will be handled by many hands. I will use
RBTs for slides which are part of a current slide projection but might be
replaced by other slides later.
This is in regards to slide projections. I still find RBTs a bit expensive
and bulky for everyday mounting. I might try heat-seal mounts for everyday
work.
