I have a question: Do you need a projector to see if your slides are
properly aligned? Isn't the viewer good enough? How about a viewer, a
light table and a mounting gauge? -- George Themelis

Dok Tee...and everyone...you can mount a slide properly fort hand
viewing...but it may not project properly.....easy example....if the
depth ratios are too deep for projection...as in...you ytake a shot of
your kid holding a hotdog...through the window...standing on the Golden
Gate Bridge....looking all the way down its entire length...(ouch my
eyes!) You could probably snuggle this fun shot in to a closeup mount
and look at it just fine in the viewer...but if you mount to that hot
dog.,....the Golden Gate will look like chopped liver....if you mount to
a place between the hot dog and infinity....as long as other stuff
doesnt invade the window.....you may be able to get away with it...but
probably not....if you mounted to infinity.....then that hotdog is gonna
fry...not on a grille...but on your eyes!

So each image has its own set of paramneters...and unfortunately....that
is really why you need to actually see the image in the projector.

The RBT mount can eliminate the following problems

1) Vertical issues...as it has a calibrated system for pin accurate
verticals.

2) Rotational issues...ditto of one for accurate rotational alignment

3) Horizontal spacing to set window: and here is where the quick
opening and closing of the mount really helps...no mateer what you
do...each image need a little tweak....so by popping the shot in the
projector...and checking it....you can approve the result...if it needs
tweaking....take it out...pop open the RBT....adjsut your
horizontal...or vertical...or rotational...and snap it closed....stuff
it back in the projector.

4) All the above except the rotaional applies to stereo cameras such as
the Realist, Revere....and certain twin setups...like the RBT....or
perhaps others (Sam Smiths setups)that can calibrate
carefully...otherwise...if you do a single camera cha-cha....or a motor
drive side shift or hyper...you will need to deal with all these issues
in another way....here you may have to "float" the image.....one
chip/....or both....by not using the RBT calibrated slide bars.....and
using Wess Tabs (reel 3D Catalog)...to get the
vertical...horizontal...and rotational issues in line.....just as you
would with any other stereo mount.

Gotta go.....my lawn is outta control...its springtime...time to mow!
