3D on TV used to be better
Years ago, when Elvira (Mistress of the Dark) aired a 3D anaglyph
horror movie on her Southern California series, I was much more
impressed. They took the time to display a test pattern while
explaining how to adjust your television settings to minimize
ghosting. Also, since it was a continuous show, your eyes had
time to get used to the anaglyph glasses. And most of the 3D
effects were designed to show depth rather than to pop out of the
window. I recall really enjoying it. In subsequent years, local
stations did other shows (like Eye on LA) in B&W anaglyph, which
also worked reasonably well.
Like most of you, I was terribly disappointed with ABC's
half-hearted attempt, EXCEPT for the Drew Carey show. With all
of the other shows, I had terrible problems with the ghosting.
But with DC, the problem was suddenly gone, and there were some
scenes which involved actual depth. Unfortunately, the ghosting
returned on Ellen.
Having never seen a Pulfrich video, I look forward to 3rd Rock.
Does anybody remember if Moonlighting worked?
Aid.
