Ideally the interocular of a stereo slide viewer should be set to same
spacing as the infinity spacing. BUT since nothing is really ideal and
in this case the lenses are usually not large enough, or if they are
introduce distortions at the edges, then adjusting for one's eye spacing
would be preferable. Ideally the image would move with the lenses. 
But heck nothing is ideal.
