Re: 35mm Stereo - Prints or Slides?

David Wilhelms innocently asks:

>Can anyone give me the pros and cons on prints vs. slides? Also, where can I
>get the slides/prints processed and mounted?

OH NOOOOO! :-)

Seriously, though, David, you should check the p3d archives. This subject
has been discussed in great detail many times, one of them very recently.

(It seems that inevitably, someone asserts that one or the other format
is better, and someone who feels the opposite takes umbrage at the opinion
expressed therein and next thing we know they're breaking out the fire
hoses... Just a little history for you.)

As someone who has just recently mounted his first prints on Q-Vue mounts,
I can say I like both formats. They're.... different. :-)

I think you'll find that most people here do the mounting themselves, for
both slides AND prints, but there are places (Kodalux in Dallas, for
example) which will mount Realist-format slides, and Grand Photo in
(Minneapolis?) will print and mount negatives taken in a Realist-format
camera. It's much more fun (and cheaper) to do it yourself, and you
have control over numerous factors (e.g. you can crop to your own
satisfaction when you mount).
