I agree with your point of view.
I've had cases where several people sent in offers to buy at the asking price,
and the seller essentially told them that they should bid against each other.
If carried to an extreme, an unscrupulous seller could offer a Realist Macro
for $5, then play all the respondants against one another to get a very
high selling price. :-)
