There was an anaglyphic image of Hale Bopp posted on the Internet. The
astronomers who took it used several hours of separation time between the
shots. They claimed to have *fixed* various problems with the image by
eliminating stars that didn't match up, but I found it very difficult to
view and it still had the *twist* problem you describe. I could fix it
considerably better, having fixed similar problems with hand held side step
stereo images, but haven't taken the time to do so. I suppose the best way
to get a stereo pair would be to carefully rotate the camera appropriately
between the exposures to compensate for the orbital rotations involved. It
still might require special adjustment afterwards.
I didn't think the images I saw on the internet were very good ones to begin
with, so if you guys have some better raw material to work with I would be
happy to *fix* it for best effect in exchange for being able to post the
results on my website with full credit to the photographer/s. Contact me
directly and send the best resolution image you currently have. Thanks.
