With a Realist camera, if you take a shot of something closer than
7 feet, you can't have something at infinity anymore or your
eyes go agog trying to fuse all of it (I have saved, but don't recall,
the exact formulas for the near-far distances). If I do have to
take a close-up with my Realist and have some further background,
I find that having an out-of-focus background allows me to push the
envelope of this rule significantly.
