Tim's French viewer

Tim Smith asks about a French viewer he has been offered
(digest 2083) . This appears to be similar to an early Bruguiere =

viewer , with some 45x107 format glass slides. The format =

was a popular amateur format , and the slides themselves =

may be commercial ones by Bruguiere (or more likely one =

of their competitors), or could be personal slides probably =

taken with a Jules Richard Verascope camera. Amateur
photographers often stored the processed glass slides in
the box in which the original plates had been purchased.

I sold a similar boxed viewer on Sell 3D for $20. Mine was
probably a little later , and had the celluloid slides which =

replaced the glass ones in the 1940's. These I sold for $8
per box of 12. Glass ones would be worth a little more, but
as always the determining factor will be the subject of the
views. French scenic landscapes ( a popular Bruguiere topic)
low value-Jules Richard views of naked ladies markedly more
valuable-(he made lots of these)!
