Lestrade & Bruguiere

Hi all,

Some older and some more recent digests, containing stuff about
Lestrade and Bruguiere viewers and stereocards, made me a bit
curious. I have a couple of Lestrade viewers and cards, together
with some Bruguiere cards (no Bruguiere viewer 8<(( )
So I tried to find more information about this subject.
While there is scarce reference in the digests, such as

#1226 Jamie Drouin
#1227 Mary Ann
#1502 Peter Davis
#1727 Keith Wilson
#1729 Jon Bradley
#2063 Dan Shelley
#2066 Peter Homer
#2083 Tim Smith
#2085 Jon Bradley

this seems to be the only information that I could get.
I've launched numerous search engines to the WWW, simple ones,
multi-thread, mega-engines, but no results !
(Wanna have search engines ? Look at :
 www.nic.surfnet.nl/infoserv/wegwijzer/zoektools.html#4)
Sorry, partially in dutch, but very usefull.

So I thought: What is the best 3-D source in the world ?
You're right: Photo-3D, of course !
My question is : Can anybody on this list shine any light on
the history of Lestrade and Bruguiere ?
Lists of produced cards ?
Any information ?

In # 1227 Mary Ann writes (yes, that's way back) :

> 1) Lestrade / Bruguiere are the same company.
> 2) They made round discs a la View-Master for a short
> period of time.
> 3) They are no longer in business.

This is definitely not true !

1) Lestrade is founded in France, Vic-en-Bigorre.
As far as I know, this is in the Tarn-district.
Bruguiere is (was) founded in Paris.
2) Both make (made) NO round disks a la VM.
3) I don't know about Bruguiere, but Lestrade cards
are still widely available in France (new)
My youngest daughter brought some for me last
summer while she was on vacation there.

Lestrade Simplex viewer
-----------------------

Simple stereoviewer, comes mostly boxed, in several
colors (light green, ivory). Often found with one card
which is 9 out of 10 times of Lourdes.
Prices (in the Netherlands) $5 - $10, although I
found one last weekend on a flea market for the
amazing price of 35 dollarcents !

Bruguiere Stereoclic viewer
---------------------------

Unknown to me. Never seen one.

I've about 350 books on the subject of camera's,
photography, 3D and the like. No trace of the two
abovementioned viewers. Price unknown (to me)
