I picked up this back and forth between Greg W. and Dok Tee...and I just
wanted to add to it:

>>Finally, even if those practical problems did not exist, I personally>don't think that the RBT camera is a wise investment when a Realist will, for most people, do *about* the same job for much less money.

>Hmm, that's not what you said in your review of the S1 for Stereo World! :-)

>>The RBT cameras need special buyers. The average club membership does not fit this profile. But am I the only "club official" having an opinion in this subject? Let's hear someone else.

Well Greg and Dok..I could not agree with the above more...the RBT needs
a "certain" buyer...and to say that they are expensive ....compared to a
Realist (exclude the Macro or Custom or Belplsaca)....RBT's are more
expensive...but put it in perspective, I am working with someone now who
wants to take several sets of twin
Nikons...putting two side by side...and another two bottom to bottom for
vertical composition (professional fashion demands meostly vertical
format). So add two nikons togather...and Nikon lenses...and the RBT is
actually quite reasonable. The S1...comnsidering what you pay for two
Konica Hexars...is very reasonable in price.
How aboput the fellow at ISU who showed his projected twin Hassleblad
images....YIPES! (Sam "Medium Format" Smith....are you smiling!)

Back to the main point. I have an RBT S1 which I really enjoy...I have
owned the X2...and the new X3, X4 (this is RBT's new entry level priced
camera, were getting closer!)..and MACRO attachment will be in my hands
to show all at NSA.

Like microphones...camera lenses have specific purposes...and I work
with sound all day long...and I would never think of putting an AKG 414
(1000.00 microphone on a windy podium for a bunch of inexperienced
singers to sing in to....a Sure SM58 (retail 120.00) would work so much
better...microphones, each one designed with inherent tonal qualities,
are just a lens for our ears...as camera lenses, with inherent optical
qualities, are microphones for our eyes...end analogy

Well... I am about to get in my car for a trip to visit my
girlfriend..and while travelling, grab some last minute B & W Scala
shots for my NSA Stereo Theatre entry "Black and White...Then and
Now"...and you can bet my trusty Realist is packed..and will get as much
action, in different ways, as my S1. I have said it so many times....the
camera does not make the photgrapher....so get out those great Realists
and go in to the world...and gather many examples of 3D....Kodak, Agfa
and Fuji did not make me say this...I swear! See all of you at NSA I
hope.
