I just finished a very subjective review of Kodak Max Gold for the Rabbit
Hash 3D Photography Club's upcoming newsletter.
It has considerable lassitude. For purposes of evaluation I treated my
Revere stereo as a point and shoot set at f16, 1/100 for all but a couple
of shots.. The only unsatisfactory shot was taken in bright midday sun
and it was just a bit off, due primarily to reflection from the subject.
As the level of light goes down the grain increases. Photos taken by the
light of a bonfire were well-exposed but showed heavy grain, those taken
in reasonable light had much finer grain.
The only flaw I could find was that the color rendition was rather more
Fujiesque than I like. It is a daylight balanced film and shows a lot of
green under fluorescent light and a lot of red under incandescent light,
but that's normal.
It is a useful film to have in the bag, but not one I'd choose everyday.
