IMAX already has a 48fps technology which they've called IMAX-HD.

The IMAX projector installed at Lincoln Square in New York
can do 48fps (IMAX-HD) and it can also do dual strip stereo 
projection (IMAX-3D).  I don't know of a case where they've run both 
HD & 3D at the same time but presumably it can be done.
If they did, I guess they'd call it IMAX-3D-HD - what a way to go
through heaps and heaps of film...  :-/
