Paul Talbot proposes:

DrT replies:

Definitely more than 44 mm (that's less than 2")

As I've said, for me the stereo window is at 7 feet or wherever I decided
to put it during mounting. I cannot reach it with my hands!

I am really puzzled by the reactions that this discussion has generated.
Not long ago, Paul was telling us about his stereo Realist pictures of
Grand Canyon that got them hooked into stereo. How real they were. Others
have commented on the realism of stereo photography too. Now it is
revealed that stereo photography does not hold much realism for most here.

I remember what the priest told me when I showed him my favorite picture
from the first wedding I photographed "Portrait of the Bride". He said to
me: "I see a REAL person looking at me". That's how I feel too.

I am practicing all different forms of stereo photography. I was doing
computer wire models in 1988. Hyperstereos, tabletops, macros, SEM stereo
pairs... You name it, I've seen it or tried it. From all the stereo
pictures that I take I mostly like my Realist pictures of family and
vacation. I like them because it is "like being there". It is the
incredible realism of good stereoscopic photography that has me hooked for
life.
