I find that I must agree that the professional contracted to do the
wedding in question was handicapped by the situation at best and not
helped at all by the amateurs, however well meaning they were.
My son married a lovely Italian girl and the wedding was loaded
with video and still cameras. Everyone seemed intent on getting his own
shot, with little concern for the "official" photographer problems.
I spoke with the photographer at the church before the wedding
and made sure he had no objections to my shooting stereos. Of course,
what could he say; I was the father of the groom. However, he was
interested in the fact that I would be doing stereos. During the
affair,
I tried make sure I didn't block him and, reluctantly, I also used some
of his setups. Perhaps he was an exception, but he worked well within
the crowding and competition and still got good pictures. He shot with
flash at the camera and moved smoothly through the people trying to do
their own pictures.
Of course, I admit that I was prepared to get my shots, even at the
risk of being a bit pushy. One of a kind opportunity to shoot stereos
of a son's wedding.
     Julius
