Wedding photographers

I've lost count of the weddings I've been the "official" photographer
for...however, I have never thought that guest or unauthorized photographers
should be stopped from taking their pictures, even with my setups.  I look
at it this way, they are the INVITED guests of the bride and groom.  They
ARE part of the wedding.  Its the bride and groom's wedding, not the
photographers.  An inventive wedding photographer can still deliver the most
outstanding shots, there are several setups which I use that even the guests
can't get...(my Spielberg shots???)...so I can't see jumping on the
un-authorized photographers.  I did have something interesting happen at one
wedding which I was NOT the official photographer.  The bride and groom who
were friends of mine asked if I would take some additional pictures along
with the person who was getting paid.  I told them I could.  Prior to the
wedding, the "official" photographer asked me not to take any pictures
during the ceremony.  (He knew I had taken many weddings in the past)  The
father of the bride heard the official photographer ask me not to take any
pictures and was furious.  He told the bride and groom who almost told the
"official" photographer to hit the road.  After it was all over with, the
bride and groom told me they wished I had taken more pictures as they
thought mine were 10 times better than the "official" shots.  Just so you'll
know, I didn't use any of the "official" setups, I set up the people the way
I wanted it to look.  As I said, its the bride and grooms wedding, not the
hired help.   I have yet to try doing a 3D wedding but have thought about it
many times.
