Well _that_ was confusing!  What I should have said was you 
need a 70 mm lens on your camera so that when you project
your 23 mm high image onto the 70" screen, you will be sitting
the correct distance (speaking from a perspective standpoint)
from the screen if you are sitting 17' from the screen.
