Underwood lists

Were any of you acquainted with the late Clarke Leverette of Ontario
Canada.

Up to his untimely passing he had compiled a self published, loose-leaf,
updatable
publication which he called the 'Cherry Pink Index' because it was
mimeographed on
pink pages supposedly to foil photocopying.

In it he had transcribed the caption lists for many Underwood &
Underwood stereo
sets as well as Keystone, Kilburn, I believe H.C. White and perhaps
another major
publisher or 2.

His section on U&U was - appropriately - the largest.  The only copy I
know of is the one we used at George Eastman House to sort out the 1000s
of U&U views in the
collection.  Since Leverette issued it piece-meal as he discovered less
common sets,
one was never sure what constitutes a complete set although I believe
GEH's is reasonably complete.  Leverette was first to acknowledge that
it was far from complete
in any category - and never would be.

If I'm not mistaken, some of the smaller, more exotic Underwood sets
were not accompanied by catalogs/checklists at all, or, if there was a
list, it may not have been
substantial enough for a library to 'catalog' in the usual manner.
