Actually this Realist product was attached to the camera lens, and
functioned as a close-up optic. One of the peculiar traits of the "Realist"
format is the frame advance sequence. The first frame is a Right
picture, and the next frame is blank (actually black-because it wasn't
exposed). The next frame is the second Right picture. The idea was to
utilize the wasted frame between them. You could insert a bit of paper into
the attachment and make a photographic copy of it. It could be used to
identity the roll of of film as yours (in case the processor messed up) or
just to record this roll as your vacation to Yellowstone. The film was a
planar image, not part of any other stereo pairs. Handy item, if you remember
