Re: tom dory wants to know whjat the "Film Identification Unit
for Realist Camera Model ST 523" does.  I don't have one but my
understanding is you use it to attach a "film identifier" (such
as the torn off flap of the film box) to the camera to remind you
what type of film you have inside.  If you only shoot one kind
of film (or go through 88 rolls/year) it would hardly be needed. ;)
But for us mortals who shoot less frequently and sometimes forget
which kind of film is in the camera, a reminder can be handy.  (I
had an SLR that had a slot for the flap from the film box built
into the camera back...before they started building in those little
clear windows that let you see the film cannister).
