Couldn't you simply shim the objective? I've done this on two of my Realists
to correct an imbalance. I just put a small(2mm square by 0.0xx"(whatever is
appropriate) thick shim under the edge of the lens to "prop" it up , so to
speak. Worked great! In your case you might need two shims, one on top and
one on the bottom of the lens opposite each other. This equalizes the
pressure from the retaining ring. You may have to spend considerable time at
this , but it can be done.
